The Most Beautiful Locations for Maternity & Newborn Photos in the North Dallas Area

One of the most common questions I get from expecting moms is: "Where should we have our session?" And honestly, it's one of my favorite things to talk about — because the North Dallas area has so much more to offer than most people realize.

Whether you're drawn to open fields bathed in golden light, lush greenery, or something more architectural and modern, there's a location here that will make your portraits feel like they were made for you.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve — Plano This is one of my most-requested spots for a reason. The trails wind through a mix of wooded canopy and open meadow, which means we have options depending on the light and the look you're going for. In the late afternoon, the way the sun filters through the trees is genuinely hard to beat. It's also relaxed and walkable, which matters more than you'd think when you're in your third trimester.

Frisco Commons Park — Frisco Open, airy, and easy on the feet. The wide green spaces here photograph beautifully, especially during golden hour. There's a timelessness to sessions here — nothing too trendy, nothing that will feel dated in five years when you're showing your child these images.

Old downtown McKinney If you love texture, character, and a slightly editorial feel, the streets of historic McKinney offer something you won't find anywhere else in the area. Brick walls, ivy, iron details — it's a completely different mood from a nature session, and some of my most striking maternity portraits have come from right here.

In-home newborn sessions For newborn work especially, I'd actually argue that your home is the best location of all. It's where your baby's story begins. The soft morning light through your bedroom curtains, the corner of the nursery you spent months putting together — that context is irreplaceable, and it shows in every image.

The right location isn't just about what looks beautiful. It's about what feels like you. If you're not sure where to start, I'll always ask a few questions before recommending anything — because the best sessions happen when the setting feels like an extension of your own story, not a backdrop borrowed from someone else's.
